I'm a huge Star Wars fan and also a librarian, so obviously my son was destined to have Star Wars books. He's almost 16 months now, but I've been reading this book and ABC-3PO to him regularly for the better part of a year. While of course he couldn't understand anything at first, he has loved listening to rhyming books since he was a few weeks old. The flow of these poems can be awkward sometimes, but they're always fun, and we absolutely love the illustrations. My little guy often chooses these books from his book bin and carries them over for my husband or me to read to him.As a bonus, Aurebesh characters spell out the numbers at the top of each page (or letters for ABC-3P0), so Mama is learning, too.
This book is really cute, and I think we can’t ask too much of it, given that it’s trying to convey very complicated film material in a counting book for young readers. However, many of the rhymes are slightly clunky. It seemed worse when I read it to myself than it did when I read it to my son, though, so a likely part of the problem is that I usually have my editor brain on. Chances are good that others wouldn’t notice or care, particularly if they’re in the target age range. But if you have an “editor brain,†beware.The illustrations are cute, and the book mostly follows the canon, even according to my husband, who I promise you would call it out for any minor violation. (The only thing he mentioned was the number of musicians isn’t right.)The goal of learning about numbers exists, and they get bonus points for having the number showing numerically and written out, but the goal is largely subsumed in story. I’m not sure this is a bad thing.
Probably one of my favorite children’s books! Of course I am a Star Wars fan so that has something to do with it but the rhymes itself are clever and funny! I also like how long the book is because most children’s books are too short for story time in my opinion. My only thing I wish is that it was somewhat of a board book because I have a child that likes to turn the pages and she gets too excited and will rip them if not watching.
So cute! Bought as a surprise for my husband to read with our toddler. He is sharing his love of Star Wars with an age appropriate media. My son loves the "robots" and is adding a lot of star wars words to his vocabulary while he learns to count. The rhyming and artwork are adorable.
I will forever love this book as well as the ABC-3PO. Goes all the way up to 20 and will be a favorite for years to come. The numbers have corresponding picture with things your child can count and numbers they can see to match. The ending of the book is my favorite but I won't spoil that for you guys.

Loved this book. We got it as a gift for friends with a star wars themed nursery. I thought it was super cute, but I'm not sure every parent would be a fan of the story. The wording isn't bad or anything but for children, I think it comes off a little harsh. Look it up to see some examples before buying. Otherwise, cute!
I am a Star Wars nerd. This book is a great way for me to introduce my daughter (who will just be three) to Star Wars without watching the movies (which may be a little too intense for a toddler). With the added benefit of learning to count.
